International Outreach
International Outreach
The Society for Neuro-Oncology understands that brain tumors do not recognize geographical boundaries. SNO seeks to promote clinical and research activities in both pediatric and adult neuro-oncology in developing regions of the world.
Annual Meeting Travel Scholarships
Travel scholarships are awarded each year for international attendees from seven different geographical regions (minimum one per region): South/Central America & the Caribbean, Central and Southern Africa, China & Associated Countries, Eastern Europe, Far East and Australasia, Indian Sub-Continent, and North Africa & the Middle East. Applications are accepted each spring for attendance at the November annual meeting. Information is posted on the meeting page on the SNO website each year.
Geographical Interest Areas and SNO International Volunteers
Geographical areas have been identified for the purpose of developing outreach and educational material tailored to meet the needs of the neuro-oncology community specific to that region. The geographical interest areas and a list of volunteers is currently being updated.
Outreach Activities
With the support of the SNO membership and volunteer leaders, we seek to provide educational materials, teaching and training resources as well as information on international fellowships and funding opportunities. Information regarding these items and more are updated and posted on the SNO website as they become available.
Support
SNO members are asked to support this initiative by volunteering their time and/or making a financial pledge to support our international outreach efforts. To volunteer your time and assist in this effort, please email: chas@soc-neuro-onc.org.
